The first day of riding – an introduction to the beautiful Marwar desert landscape. Mainly flat country today, with one hill pass to cross, offering beautiful views. The guests will arrive beside a tribal Rebari village. Mera is a seasonal/permanent village of a group of Rebaris, who are semi nomadic shepherds with flocks of sheep and goat. You will witness this ancient way of life. Enjoy a locally cooked meal.

An early start today, riders will meander through attractive sandy valleys. Below ancient granite mountains of Asrana. Lunch will be at a farmers cottage. Thetrail is very good habitat for Leopards and their prey. Keeping up a good pace, we reach our destination of Bhenswara by the sunset. After which guests can enjoy this colourful 18TH century noble house, relax by the pool. Dinner will be hosted by the Family inresidence.

Leaving the hills behind, today we move to rolling sandy country. Grouse and small game thrive in the lands of Bhavrani, stopping to experience the traditional art of rug making. Cultural exhibition at Bhavrani, a recently restored noble house which is more than 300 yrsold.

Today we have a Opium ceremony where the village holds court. Afterwards we head towards Rakhi. This habitat is residence to wildlife such as blackbuck, Indian gazelle, desert fox and blue bull antelopes. We will reach the village of Rakhi for a late lunch. In the evening you can have a walk in the village followed by sunset on the sand dunes and well deserveddrink.

Today we start riding east of Rakhi, continuing through flat lands, with tall grasses on all sides. At midday the vast salt pans open up before us. Lunch at the picturesque lake where demoiselle cranes can be seen in abundance. This afternoon brings high sand dunes with some of the most beautiful landscape of the region, ending the day riding through Rama valley to the historic 16th Century Bhadrajun Fort.

Today will be a fast ride– leaving the Bhadrajun Mountains and returning to the desert, deep in the heart of the Marwar Kingdom. As we will pass through the hamlets of the Bishnoi Tribe. The Bishnoi Tribes are a nature loving people, they predominantly wear white turbans and clothing. Eight of the twenty nine tenets of their religion prescribe preservation of biodiversity and encourage good animal husbandry – the original natureconservationists.

Riding Ability: You should be able to ride to a good, intermediate standard, and be able to control a horse in open country at walk, trot and canter.The ride will be fast in places and you should expect to beinthesaddlefor8to9hoursonsomedays.
Types of Horses: The horses used for the trip are local Marwari horses and are between 14hh and 16hh.
Tack: The saddles used are English saddles and the horses are ridden in snaffle bridles, and a small saddle bag isprovided.
Weight Limit for Riding: Maximum weight limit is 90 kg, although heavier riders will be considered subject to their riding ability and there may be a surcharge to have two horses available. Please do not hesitate to contact the office to discuss thisfurther.
